It seems only fitting that CPL Christopher Levi was given the keys to his new smart home just in time for the 4th of July.
CPL Levi was severely injured on March 17, 2008, when an improvised exploding device in Iraq hit the armored Humvee he was traveling in. CPL Levi was in the middle vehicle of a five-vehicle convoy. The blast cut through both of Levi’s legs at mid-thigh, leaving him a bilateral amputee. He also suffered significant damage to his right hand and arm.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and many generous volunteers and donors, built this deserving hero a smart home that is custom-built with technology to suit his needs and give him back some of his independence. Now, with the touch of a button, CPL Levi has the ability to do things for himself that many of us take for granted each day.
As part of Carpet One Floor & Home’s Building for America’s Bravest program, Harry Katz Carpet One Floor & Home of Mineola, NY donated all of the flooring installation throughout the home.
